Searching for a PS Vita & a New 3DS XL.

Post by matt »

Mkay, here's the dealio. I own a Black Standard 3DS & a (Special Edition Mario & Luigi) 3DS XL.

I'm looking for a New 3DS XL because... idk I just want the new model, appearently its just supposed to be better in every way. Would love to do some hardware mods, but will likely just stick to Software for now.

I've never owned a PS Vita, but I owned a PSP for probably.. a week? as a child. My friend Andrew bought a PSP a while ago, he's had a PS Vita for a minute, but he brought his PSP to class one day and played Gran Turismo on it and I was like... damn that looks fun as fuck. So I want a PS Vita, as it is also backwards compatible with PSP and Software modding is well available, and the PS Vita (probably) has a great software lineup.

I've looked at two local Game stores in Murfreesboro, Play n Trade & Gametrader. Play n Trade had a New 3DS standard (with some special edition backplate) for (sorry guys) way too much imo (like $300+). Gametrader had a PSP for $100 and a standard Red 3DS. (I bought 4 PS2 DDR games from there tho, and the guy gave me a discount because I was buying them all, thanks man.) I would looooove to be able to acquire one at these stores, or any other local ones in the Nashville-ish area. I started this search *just* after I went to Mckay's in West Nashville for the first time, I looked for New 3DS but no dice, and I didn't look for PS Vita's because I didn't know I wanted one yet.

Facebook Marketplace has been kinda ass so far.

Searching "ps vita" returns listings for PSPs... Any of the "Ships To You" listings for PS Vita's are $185-$250, and I think these are upcharging for modding the console, which is lame!! I want to do the modding myself. I'd much rather recieve a stock console (FOR CHEAPER) than paying someone else to drag some files to an SD Card.

As for the 3DS, there are Two listings that match my basic criteria (that being a New 3DS XL). $200 for a (pre-modded 🙄) New 3DS LL in a "Japanese exclusive color". Comes with protective case and charger, so kinda nice. Can't tell yet if $200 is a good deal or not, but I'll save it for now. The listing is in Franklin so like 45 minutes away. The other listing is a $250 Galaxy New 3DS LL, fuck that shit bro the galaxy colorway is so ugly I'm not even gonna look at that.

eBay is sooooo scary. For New 3DS XL, I've practically not looked, I don't really trust any seller. For Vita, this listing peaked my interest. Lots of different colorways with well documented status on repair/condition. Looooving the blue/black because it looks like my car, and the pink/black. Lime Green is verrry cute too. Seems reasonably priced too. I think if nothing shows up locally, this might be the move.

Local forum resident paralleljalebi, Wyatt, Garden Busker, offered me his New 3DS XL one he finds himself a New 3DS (Standard Size), says its too big or whateva. Would be interested in this too but, requires him to find himself a new console himself. And up to the price he sells it to me I suppose LOL.

Why do I want these portable consoles??? I don't know! I think they're pretty cute, and they're old enough to software mod. Idk its a good vibe too to have a 3DS or Vita in the pockets. STREETPASS4EVA

Really interested in a standard n3DS and ur still #1 for inheriting the old bugger. I got it in 2018 and started modding it 'round 2019, so I'll discount you well enough. I'll keep the custom firmware setup so you don't have to go through the process, and I'll help with whatever else U need for it. Once I actually have money coming in from the new jawb next month I can start the n3DS hunt. ~ I also have wanted a PS VITA for years. They seem so cool, and I wish I got to experience it at its height. Back in the PS3 era I really just wanted the VITA so I could play Minecraft on a handheld console, but now I'd love to go crazy modding it and play the Katamari games on PSP and VITA.
